Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

Preparing for Publication with an Audience in Mind.

What readers & writers are doing at school...

This week our students will keep learning that characters are the heart and soul of fiction. Without strong characters, fiction falls apart. One of the strategies that our students will be learning is that writers often study mentor authors to notice what other writers do that really works. One thing writers do is use actions and revealing details to show rather than tell about or explain the character. In addition, students will learn how to edit their work by rereading with great care and thinking about everything they know about grammar and punctuation. Last, we will have our first mini-celebration where our students will have the opportunity to share their stories with other learners. Arc of Study. Narrative Writing Checklist
