Our Readers will conclude their Reading Unit by analyzing the author's craft and studying how Nonfiction Authors achieve their goals. For example, when authors want to build tension in a narrative story, they slow down the action, add inner thinking and descriptive thinning, and more.

Students will review and investigate the relationship between decimals and fractions with different denominators.

Students will work on the las module of the unit. Students will reinforce the relationship between decimals and fractions with denominators of tenth and hundredths. Students are all invited to investigate the connection between decimals and other common fractions including halves, fourths, fifths, and twentieths.

Learning Goal

What tigers are doing at school..

Students will continue with their new unit in Science which focuses on global warming and climate change. Students will reflect on what they know about plastics, how it is used and the impact on the environment. Students will observe the quantity of plastics in everyday life and brainstorm alternative materials to lessen their plastic use. They will begin to look at their immediate environment as well as take a glimpse into the global impact of plastics.

Friends and learners will explore what it means to value another person’s emotions, thoughts, and actions.

What friends and learners are doing at school...

Friends and learners will pair up and share three things that they are good at and write these on one side of the page then write down their partner’s favorite activities or what they value about their partner on the right side, with a plus sign in front of each activity. 

What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

Brainstorm skills that you can use to connect what you are good at to your feelings, thoughts, and actions, which influence what you value.
