3rd Grade News
Dear Third Grade Parents,
Happy Independence Day! We are proud of the hard work that our third graders have been doing. We also want to thank you for joining us in our Open House. Being part of your child’s learning experience is crucial. We would like to inform you that in Math third graders will be working on a post-assessment on Monday, Sept. 18th. If you would like to practice with them they will be taking home the Student Book that we use in class for this. Please continue to practice reading every day for 30 minutes and write the reading time in their reading log. On Monday 11th Students are invited to: Wear traditional Nicaraguan clothing Pack themselves traditional Nicaraguan food for snacks and lunch.

Our readers will be tackling the meaning of hards words by using textual clues. They will also practice that authors sometimes use figurative language that can be confusing and that readers need to use contextual clues to make sense of these figures of speech.

Mathematician will be introduced to Multiplication
What mathematicians are doing at school...
Mathematicians will be presenting their Unit 1 Post- Assessment, where they are going to be showing all the strategies taught involving additions and subtractions. Students will be introduce to a new unit about Multiplication where they are going to learn to apply new multiplication strategies such as arrays, equal groups, number lines and ratio tables.

What tigers are doing at school...
Students will be working on their models and will dive in to work collaboratively. They will share their observations and will continue to work on adding the details. These young scientists will engage in four corner debate to share their ideas/information. They will be writing strong observations about the phenomena they are inquiring.
What tigers could be doing at home...
Students will continue to share their questions with parents. The students will discuss with their families what makes an observation strong. They should be able to share the essentail questions that they generated and shared in class.
