Hello dear families, 

Students enjoyed our phonics celebration this week! They have learned so many letters and sounds with Mabel. They wrote all the letters on a balloon and paraded in the classroom singing the ABC song. Next week we are starting our new unit of being a "Word Scientist". 

Parents, read through these friendly reminders to support an efficient and safe pick up: 

Arrival: Drop students off at youngest siblings gate Backpacks on and children ready to get down. 

Dismissal: Name Placard Visible; for a replacement placard email ansprimary@ans.edu.ni. Stay in your car Pick up students at youngest siblings gate Advance forward to buckle children in. 

Early Pick Up Policy: Contact ansprimary@ans.edu.ni and homeroom teacher before 12:00 pm. 

Weekly Learning Goals & Tasks

English Literacy

Learning Goal

ELA: Readers will use pointing, patterns, words they know in a snap, and letters to read. 

Phonics: Students will become word scientists. 

What readers & writers are doing at school...

ELA: Students will learn that they can read by putting together everything they know: pointing, finding snap words, and checking the letters to read pattern books. 

Phonics: Students will learn that the pictures on the alphabet chart can help them remember the sound that goes with a letter. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

ELA: Select one special book that they really like, read it and share with someone at home their favorite part, make sure to point to different aspects of the book, such as the first word on a page, the last word, a letter. 


Phonics: While reading a book a home, have kids look at the picture, say the word, really listening to the first sound and find the letter that matches that sound on the alphabet chart. 

Spanish Literacy

Learning Goal

Los escritores usarán todos los sonidos que conocen para agregar etiquetas a sus dibujos. 

What readers & writers are doing at school...

Los escritores aprenderán a trabajar con su compañero de esritura para agregar más sonidos y detalles a sus escritos. También tendrán una mini celebración por haber terminado la primera parte del taller de escritura y se prepararán para agregar etiquetas más largas. Continuarán aprendiendo palabras comunes. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

En casa pueden hacer un dibujo de sus juguetes favoritos y etiquetar sus partes también pueden repasar las primeras palabras comunes que aprendieron. yo-el-la. Las pueden moldear con plastilina o formarlas con granitos de frijoles. 

Mathematics

Learning Goal

Students will be able to learn to use the Number Rack in order to develop early number skills. 

What mathematicians are doing at school...

Mathematicians will be introduced to a new Math tool " Number Rack". This will help them exlore a linear ten frame. They will continue to reinforce early number skills such as cardinality, one to one corresponcance and subitizing. 

What readers & writers could be doing at home...

Mathematicians will build their own Number Rack and will be able to take it home to show their Parents how to use it to show specific quantities. 

Science or Social Studies

Learning Goal

Students understand the life and behaviors of a bird and its interaction with the environment

What tigers are doing at school...

The students have become little experts on birds, through observation, analysis, research and scientific questions.

What tigers could be doing at home...

Students can make a small book about birds. 

Social Emotional Learning Program

Learning Goal

Learners and friends think about the importance of getting to know each other. They discover commonalities and differences between them. They understand and appreciate each other more.

What friends and learners are doing at school...

Counselor describes to them what it means to have things in common and things that are different between each one with simple examples. Then, through the game getting to know each other, they interact, ask and answer questions about common interest and different interests (favorite movie, favorite book, favorite animal, etc.)


What friends and learners could be practicing at home...

Can you ask your child at home, what things do you have in common with your classmates? What things do you have differently with your classmates? Remind them that the community in the class is diverse, each one is unique and we can learn from each other.
