Chapter Seven
Nathan didn’t hear Haley enter the kitchen but he felt her arms come around his middle and her head lightly rest against his back.
“Hey, I’m sorry I didn’t say anything back there. I guess I was a little shocked and surprised at what you said, but I’ve had a moment to think and it’s actually not a bad idea.”
Releasing the breath he had unconsciously been holding, he turned around to face her and wrapped his arms around her waist, he brought her in closer to his chest. “You don’t think it’s too soon to be thinking about moving in together?”
Smoothing her hands over his bare chest, Haley gave his question a moment of thought. “I guess it does sound a little soon but so what? It’s not like we’re going to move in together today or anything. Look, we’ve wanted to be together for the past six months and we didn’t do a damn thing about it, did we? It took me being knocked on my ass for us to actually kiss each other and when it finally does happen we discover it’s the best kiss either of us has ever had.” She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him gently on the lips before drawing back and continuing what she was saying.
“My suggestion is that we try dating for a few months or so and just see how it goes. If it goes great and we’re both happy, then we can talk more about moving in together. For the time being I can continue staying at Peyton and Jake’s place but spending lots of time here with you and whenever they actually do leave the apartment of an evening, you can come over and hang out there with me. What do you think?” Bringing her arms up around his neck, she gently scratched the back of it as she waited for his response.
Pulling her in even closer, Nathan kissed her softly. “I think you’re a genius, Haley,” he told her, a smile gracing his lips. “I’ll admit I was worried that maybe I’d blown it by even suggesting you move in here. I guess another good thing about doing it your way is that I can get to know your cousin and your best friend and try and convince them I’m a good guy and not out to hurt you.”
“Don’t worry about them, okay. I know they’ll really like you and if they don’t, tough. Me liking you is more important, right?”
“Right,” he confirmed, pressing his lips against hers before drawing back and adding, “Actually, I think you should start showing me just how much you like me, sweetie.”
Haley snuggled into his chest, breathing in his natural scent and lowering one of her hands, she slowly trailed the pads of her fingers over his sculpted chest.
