Chapter Three
Haley parted her lips, allowing his tongue access into her mouth and she moaned when he curled it around hers. Without breaking the kiss, she managed to move them back into the apartment and she smiled against his lips when she felt him kick the door shut behind him.
When he picked her up and sat her down on the kitchen counter, she yelped with surprise and couldn’t help thinking how glad she was that she had put the cups back into the cupboard instead of leaving them out.
Scraping her fingernails across his scalp and down the back of his neck, she felt his body tremble and so she did it again. Her fingers tugged at his leather jacket and together they managed to remove it from him, the garment dropping onto the floor with a thud.

“Thank heavens for that,” he teased before slanting his mouth over hers and kissing her just as passionately as their last kiss. “Do I?”

He debated what to say; should he tell her the truth or just make something up? She didn’t seem in a hurry to get rid of him which was a good sign at least, right?
“Nathan?”
“I was just wondering… This—what’s happened between us tonight…”
“Yes?” Haley held her breath as she waited for him to tell her what had happened was a mistake, that it shouldn’t have gone that far or one of a million other excuses he could come up with at short notice.
“Is it a one night stand?”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Because I don’t want it to be. I’ve had one night stands before and this… This doesn’t feel like one but I’m not sure if that’s how you see it an--”
“I don’t!” she quickly stated and noticed that he seemed to share her relief.
“Really?”
“Really. And just so you know, I don’t do one night stands although…”
“Although what?”
“I would’ve made an exception for you.”
“Yeah?”
“Hell yeah,” she said before they both started laughing. After catching her breath, she said teasingly, “Maybe we should have stopped and had that talk before we got so carried away.”
“Yeah,” he agreed with a chuckle. “So, uh, just to be clear, what are we saying here?”
“We’re saying we’re going to see where this leads us. That is if you want to?” Her tone was almost shy which he found pretty cute considering what they had just done together.
“That sounds good, more than good.”
“Okay, then.” Pulling him back down on top of her, she kissed him softly and she felt a lightness in her chest that hadn’t been there earlier. “So, I’ve got a suggestion to make?”
“Please tell me it involves a bed and more condoms.”
Haley laughed against his lips. “Wow, I didn’t know you were a mind reader.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, but I’ve got a feeling you’ll be finding out soon enough.”
“You know, I think you might just be right,” she told him before once more stealing his lips with her own.
