Early Dismissal Reminder
Just a quick reminder to all our families: The latest time to check out students for early dismissal is 2:30 PM.
This policy helps us ensure:
✔️ A safe and smooth dismissal process for all students
✔️ Minimal disruptions during the busiest part of the school day
✔️ That front office staff and teachers can focus on end-of-day procedures
We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us keep things running safely and efficiently for everyone. If you know ahead of time that your child will need to leave early, please plan to arrive before 2:30 PM.
Thank you for partnering with us!

Ready, Set, Register Before May 16
GCISD Families: Start your engines by registering your student for the 2025-2026 school year before May 16. The earlier you register, the better we can plan as campuses are staffed based on registration numbers. Registering now helps GCISD avoid last-minute hiring or staff relocations when the school year begins.
Here’s how to cross the finish line:
Returning students: Register via Skyward Family Access
New families: Request a Skyward Family Access account first
Pre-K: Complete the pre-K online application first
New siblings: Log in to Skyward Family Access and add a new student by selecting the “New Student Online Enrollment” tab.
While families can register all year long, let’s cross that finish line together before summer to make next year a smooth ride!
Please join us for the final PTA Meeting of the year, Tuesday April 29th at 6 pm in the Learning Commons. The meeting will be immediately followed with a presentation from Kyle Berger, GCISD Chief Technology Officer.

Parents,
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is always in need of substitute nurses to help at our campuses as needed. If you have a valid RN license and are interested in assisting, please apply for our Substitute Nurse position at https://grapevinecolleyville.schoolspring.com/.
Thank you for your support!
To strengthen cybersecurity and prevent phishing attacks, staff email addresses are not currently accessible on the “Staff” pages on our district and campus websites. However, most employee emails can still be found on individual school websites on the department or grade-level pages. The district’s communications and technology departments are currently working with our website vendor on ways to make these staff email addresses easily accessible for our community while also enforcing cybersecurity measures.
In the meantime, parents may also connect with their student’s teachers via Skyward or the Rooms tool within the GCISD App (if used by the teacher). If you need to confirm an email address, please contact the campus directly. Thank you for helping us protect our staff from online threats.
Career Day: May 16th
HUGE thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in presenting at our Glenhope Career Day on May 16th! I am so excited about the variety of careers our students will get to explore!
I have reached out to almost all of our presenters. If you completed the interest form, please check your email to see if/when you are presenting. Please be sure to respond to my email to confirm that you will attend. If you have not received an email from me yet, please keep checking. Everyone should hear from me by the end of the day!
If you aren't able to present but are still interested in sharing your career with our students, please consider submitting a brief video overview of your profession. Tell us what you do, the education pathway you took to get there, and what you love about your career. We plan to show these videos to our students during breaks throughout the day so that we can expose them to as many different career options as possible! You can submit your videos here. Videos should be less than 5 minutes (ideally 1-2 minutes).
April Character Trait: Courage
When students visit for Guidance time in April, we will discuss COURAGE. Students will learn that courage means "choosing what is helpful, right, and kind -- even when it is hard or scary." We'll play a game that encourages students to identify the courageous act in various scenarios, then we'll talk about how the courageous act is an example of one of our other character traits (empathy, responsibility, gratitude, cooperation, perseverance, honesty, and respect).
If you would like to learn more about the role of a school counselor, please visit our GCISD Counseling website. Reach out to Lauren Canafax (lauren.canafax@gcisd.net) if your student needs a check-in or if you have any questions/concerns.

Important attendance information: Attendance matters! Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s learning and educational experiences. Parents and students are encouraged to avoid unnecessary absences. Two important state laws govern attendance. In efforts to promote student attendance and learning, please note the following reminders and updates to GCISD attendance requirements.
Laws Governing School Attendance:
Compulsory Attendance (AKA Truancy)
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten
Students enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten are required to attend school and are subject to the compulsory attendance requirements as long as they remain enrolled at a campus.
Ages 6–18
State law requires that a student who is at least six years of age, or who is younger than six years of age and has previously been enrolled in first grade, and who has not yet reached their 19th birthday, shall attend school, as well as any applicable accelerated instruction program, extended-year program, or tutorial session, unless the student is otherwise excused from attendance or legally exempt. Students/families who do not meet compulsory attendance will be referred to the GCISD Attendance Review Board and/or referred to Tarrant County Court for truancy. If a student fails to attend school without excuse on three or more days or parts of days within a four-week period but does not fail to attend school for the time described below, the district shall initiate truancy prevention measures on the student.
Attendance for Credit or Final Grade (AKA 90% Rule)
To receive credit or a final grade in a class, a student in kindergarten–grade 12 must attend at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered. With the exception of absences due to serious or life-threatening illness or related treatment, all absences, whether excused or unexcused, must be considered in determining whether a student has attended the required percentage of days. Students who are in danger of losing credit or promotion will be contacted by the campuses with plans for opportunities to regain lost instructional time.
Official Attendance-Taking Time
Official attendance is taken every day at 10:00 a.m. Attendance is taken at 8:55 a.m. at Collegiate Academy and 12 p.m. for Bridges.
Documentation after an Absence
Up to eight days per year (four per semester) may be excused by a parent note for missed attendance beyond medical, approved excused, and statutorily exemptions. Vacations taken during the school year will be coded as unexcused absences. All absences whether excused or unexcused count toward the 90% rule.
A parent must provide an explanation for any absence upon the student’s arrival or return to school. The student must submit a note signed by the parent. The campus may accept a phone call from the parent, but reserves the right to require a written note. A note signed by the student will not be accepted unless the student is age 18 or older or is an emancipated minor under state law. The campus will document in its attendance records whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
Please email Nurse Liz (elizabeth.giblin@gcisd.net) and Tanya Hill (tanya.hill@gcisd.net) whenever your child will be out sick.
