This week in math we continued our unit on addition and subtraction. We worked on solving all different word problem types: Join- Result Unknown, Join- Change Unknown, Join- Start Unknown, and Separate- Result Unknown, Separate- Change Unknown, Separate- Start Unknown.
In reading, we worked on asking questions as we read books. This keeps us engaged with our reading and helps us better comprehend texts.
We are continuing to work on our narrative writing unit. This week we wrote the middle of our story and included our feelings, actions, and details.
In social studies, we continued our studies of communities and citizenship.
Our science unit on objects and materials continues through early October. We will learn about classifying objects, sorting by characteristics, weight, systems and how things can be changed by heating and cooling.
Language Arts: I can visualize as I read. I can write narrative stories about my life.
Math: I can represent addition or subtraction word problems by using appropriate strategies such as concrete objects, pictorial models, and number sentences.
Science: I can describe an object's properties.
Social Studies: I can explain that a community is a group of people who live and learn in the same place.

This is a reminder that parents may not use the staff parking lot* to pick up or drop off students, or to turn around. If you want to walk to drop off or pick up your child, you must park on the street and use the appropriate crosswalk.
*If you are looking at the school, the staff parking lot is the large lot to the left of the front doors.
