THANK YOU for all of your help to make our Red Ribbon Week and Math or Treat such a success. I hope the students had as much fun as we did!

*No School Monday and Tuesday this coming week!

Zoo Field Trip - November 7th!!

A chaperone note went home earlier this week and a reminder letter about our trip is going home today!

Students need to wear their new field trip shirts that they received last week.

Help your child be PREPARED!

-Please read with or have your child read each day out loud

-Practice the math addition and subtraction facts from 1-20

-Help remind them to charge their ipads each evening

-Check their Take Home Folders for any papers or important information

Curriculum:

Language Arts:

Students will make and confirm predictions using text evidence.

Students will retell a story or text in a logical sequence.

Students will respond to and make connections to stories using text evidence.

Students will practice using verbs in the correct tense. Students will be able to correctly add the inflectional ending -es and -s to present tense verbs.

Students will revise and edit their personal narrative using different strategies and checklists.

Math:

I can use multiple strategies to solve 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction problems both with and without regrouping.

I can add up to 4 two-digit numbers using algorithms and mental math strategies.

*This is going to be a huge 9 weeks for our students with the upcoming skills. Please be sure to continuously practice their math facts through 20 so that they are fluent.

Social Studies:

Students will be able to name different leaders in goverment at the local, state and national level. (Mayor, Governor and President)

Students will explain what the government is for and it's different functions.

Science:

Students will demonstrate and explain that sound is made by vibrating matter and that vibrations can be caused by a variety of means.

Students will observe that energy is everywehre and it can be observed in everyday life.

Snacks!

Please pack one NUT FREE snack for your child every day in their backpacks. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide snacks for the class.

Teachers are allowed to have pre-packaged Veggie Straws or Skinny Pop (original flavors) on hand for students who may forget. If you are able, and would like to provide any to your homeroom teachers, we would be very appreciative.

Handle With Care

A green note when home with your children in their Take Home Folders this week. This is simply to let you know that we understand that the mornings can sometimes be a challenge for students. Sometimes they are anxious or sad about something at home. Sometimes their allergies are giving them trouble. Sometimes they simply are exhausted and need a little extra love and hugs from us. We get it and want to best support your child. If you find that your child is having one of these mornings, please just send us an email and all that you need to say is "Handle with care". We will get the message and be sure to give your child extra support and understanding that day.
