WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
This week we found out what happens when Mrs. Wishy-Washy tries to give her animals a bath! Ask your child to re-tell you this silly story! We have been hard at work listening to and identifying beginning and ending sounds in words. We also learned about synonyms and antonyms. In math, the students worked on addition. We continue to work on counting from 1 - 100 and backwards from 20 to 1. In social studies, we learned about Stephen F. Austin and Jose Antonio Navarro who were important historical figures who helped shape the state of Texas.
READING CLASSES
The students continue to do a great job switching classes for reading, however, there are some students who need much encouragement to complete their jobs. If your child is coming home with incomplete work, please talk to them to find out why and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
We are planning to send home "take home readers" in students' book bags next Friday, October 25th. We previously thought we would send them home today but decided to move it to next week Sorry for the change of plans.
A REMINDER ABOUT SNACK
The snack you send in for your child needs to be a HEALTHY, NUT-FREE and utensil - free snack! Please do not send in any fruit cups, juice boxes or other drinks, besides water. If you are sending a snack, please pack it separately from their lunchboxes. Thank you for your cooperation.
We had MANY students without a snack this week. I did have a few snacks that I was able to give out, however my supply is running very low. The only snacks that teachers are allowed to give out are pre-packaged Veggie Straws or original flavored Skinny Pop. If you would like to donate some of these snacks to your child's classroom, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Your child should be able to confidently identify (within 3 seconds, in random order):

SIGHT WORDS
We asked students to read a list of 10 sight words this week and there were many students who were able to read only 5 words or less. It is very important for you to practice reading and writing these words with your child daily in order for students to master them. Knowing our sight words will help your child tremendously in reading and writing.
These are the sight words we learned this week:
