A pink letter was sent home last week with information regarding our Valentine's Day classroom exchange and student created boxes. Use the link below if you need access to this information. Thank you in advance for your help!
We have a Valentines Party Activity called "Guess That Baby" where students will get to see baby pictures of their classmates and they try to guess who it is. We need your help by sending in a cute digital baby picture. Pictures where your child is between the ages of 6 months-2 years work great. We will display the baby pictures in a slideshow during our Valentines Party on February 13th. Please email the picture to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, February 7th. Thank you in advance for your help!
Next Week: Module 7 Week 1
Reading: Next week in reading we we will read traditional literature and work on central idea, figurative language, and literary elements.
Writing: Next week in writing we will work on extended constructed responses. We will focus on answering a prompt, making a strong claim, finding supporting evidence, and giving reasoning for our evidence. Students will complete an ECR and then edit and revise it using the STAAR writing grading rubric.
Grammar: Editing & Revising
Next Week: We will end our unit over data analysis. This week we will review dot plots, frequency tables, and stem-and-leaf plots and how to solve problems using the information.
Unit 6 Assessment February 12th
Please try and work on multiplication facts at home. Having those memorized helps multiplying multi-digit numbers and division.
This Week : We continued to explore the water cycle and Earth's patterns as a whole. Students learned the terms humidity, water vapor, evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and rehearsed our water cycle song!
Next Week : We will extend our water cycle expertise to discuss the difference between weather and climate. We will make a climate graph comparing the average monthly temperature and precipitation and discuss the importance of mapping weather patterns over time. Weather is a daily occurence, while climate is a measure of the typical weather patterns an area experiences over time.
This Week : We reviewed for our social studies Unit 5 test Thursday, covering the events following the Texas Revolution, Texas as a state, and successes/failures of the Republic. We will completed an assignment about ratifying amendments and explored the Bill of Rights.
Next Week : We will learn about mid-19th century Texas including the Civil War, Texas Secession, the opposition of Sam Houston and Edmund J Davis, Important Battles in Texas, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the surrender at Appoattox Court House.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in supplies! These are a few items we could still use more of in the classrooms to make it through the rest of the year. Thank you!
