This is the End
This is our last newsletter of the 2024-2025 school year! We know your kiddos are ecstatic about the end of school, though some have said it is bittersweet. The end of each year is bittersweet for us as well. We've spent the last nine months getting to know your kids and have had a front-row seat to their growth. While transitioning to middle school is inevitable, that doesn't make saying goodbye easier. Mr. Wahpekeche has a quote on the wall in his classroom that reads: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." We are forever grateful for the opportunity to teach your children and will smile at sharing 5th-grade with them. This chapter is giving way to a new one for all of us.
One thing our students always find hard to believe is how much we learn from them during this time. Each group of students teaches us something new about who we are as educators and allows us to grow alongside them. This way, they linger with us well beyond their time in our classrooms. They are part of our stories, and we a part of theirs. Our classrooms will miss the light each of your kids brought into them, but it's time for that light to brighten their middle school classrooms. It has been an honor to teach your kiddos this year and help prepare them for the years ahead. Even though some students don't quite feel ready for middle school, we know they will shine brightly once they settle in, and their light will make middle school even more beautiful.
Thank you for a wonderful year!

We will be going to Parr Park next Wednesday, May 21st. We plan on leaving school around 9:00 and walking to the park. We will be there from about 9:15(ish) to 1:30 and then head back to Glenhope. As a reminder, the PTA is providing pizza and Skinny Pop for students (unless you indicated your child is bringing their lunch).
What Students Need to Bring
1. Students will still need to bring their backpacks and devices to school on Wednesday.
2. Please have students wear comfortable shoes.
3. Students need to wear their 5th-grade field trip shirt.
4. Students need to bring their own water bottles.
5. Please have your child wear sunscreen!
6. Students are allowed to play with the water elements at the park; if they plan to do so, they need to bring a towel and wear a swimsuit under their clothes (one piece for girls).
7. If students want to bring their own equipment to the park (ex: soccer ball), they may do so but will need to carry it and keep track of it!
What Chaperones Need to Bring & Know
1. Chaperones will need to bring their own lunch and drink.
2. Wear comfortable shoes & sunscreen
3. We are typically all at the main part of the park and can see most areas from that section; if a group of students wants to go to the baseball diamond or walk a trail, they will need to have an adult with them.
The fourth nine-week report cards will be viewable via Skyward on Thursday of next week.
We are happy to report that the grand total of community service hours this year done by 5th graders was OVER 945 HOURS!
Thanks to the many parents who supported this endeavor!
