Next Week: This week, we will continue working with angles. We will use protractors to measure and draw angles and determine the measurement of an unknown angle. We will learn how to identify and draw lines of symmetry and use benchmark angles to determine acute, obtuse, and right triangles.
Help from home: practice multiplication (two-digit x two-digit) and division (three-digit divided by one-digit) equations.
This Week : We began our unit on forces and interactions with energy, how it moves and transfers (kicking a soccer ball, beating a drum, etc.). We discovered the way energy moves in waves and how it can be stored and changed. We designed/sketched a Rube Goldberg machine to demonstrate the transfer of energy from one object to another to accomplish a task.
Next Week : We will explore electric energy and how it is transfered/travels through conductors of electricity. We will determine the difference between thermal and light energy that electric energy can create, as well as conductors and insulators and their differences.
This Week : We learned about Texas at the start of the 20th century including, the Great Depression, FDR's presidency and his New Deal, Works Progress Administration, the Dust Bowl, and tensions escalating towards the second World War. We completed an assignment about a primary source from the Dust Bowl.
Next Week : We will learn about Texas at the start of World War 2, and the major events/Texas heroes of that war.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in supplies! These are a few items we could still use more of in the classrooms to make it through the rest of the year. Thank you!

Mints for STAAR testing
Thanks to everyone who has donated materials for our 4th grade Glow Day on April 4th. We sincerely appreciate it. There are still materials on our list that are very much needed, which we have noted with a "highest" or "high" priority. For example, every classroom will need 3-4 blacklight bars for the day to really be "Glow Day." The 4th grade wish list is below. We are very excited to provide this day of learning for students!
4th Grade Glow Day Supply Wish List
**Please note: this list will provide all 4th grade classrooms with the necessary supplies they need for Glow Day**
We can't believe Glow Day is next Friday! We are looking for volunteers to help set up our rooms next Thursday after school. This would entail putting black butcher paper on our windows, black tablecloths on the tables, and hanging up decor. If you're available next Thursday from 3:15 to 4:30 to help, please use the link below to sign up. Thank you in advance for your help!

Please note our STAAR testing dates below. On testing days, Glenhope is closed to visitors so please keep that in mind. Additionally, we would appreciate you not scheduling any appointments on these days, as students will have to miss class time during the testing window to make up the STAAR testing they missed. If they miss a STAAR exam, they will have to spend an entire day of school when they return to make that test up.
