This week our Student Council held a fundraiser called Teacher Grams. Every day before school this week, students purchased a Teacher Gram for $1.00 and wrote a note of gratitude to their favorite teachers. Thank you for supporting our student council.

Week in Review

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the field trip to The Perot Museum. Everyone had a wonderful time despite the rough start with the weather.

This week teachers have been having fun with a different "secret" dress code each day. It has been fun to see the creativity.  

In math, we continued our unit on Number Sense/Place Value with numbers to 99. During this unit, we are working on building numbers with models, objects and tens and ones. We will practice skip counting, counting forwards and backwards, comparing numbers using <,>,= and building sets that represent numbers larger or smaller than a given number. We are also learning how to represent numbers in standard form, picture form, word form and expanded form. This unit carries over after the holiday and up until the winter holiday.

In reading, we continued to work on story structure and studying character traits in various stories. Students enjoy making personal connections to the readings. We are continuing to work on writing during our literacy time as well as through journal writing. We continue to focus on proper usage of capitalization, punctuation, spelling and adding meaningful details. We wrapped up Module 4 and will begin Module 5 "Now You See It, Now You Don't."

In science we finished learning about bodies of water. We had a special water presentation from Tarrant Water district and finished the week with "Let's Talk Turkey" from Texas Wildlife Association.

Following the holiday we will begin our Middle of the Year assessments, which include i-Ready. We are excited to see how the students have shown growth over these few months. 

Please take time to read over the holiday. Students can access the Rigby Library in Ed through ClassLink and choose texts that we have studied in class. There is a large library from which to choose and practice skills we have worked on this year.
