Have you gone in to explore your child's i-ready progress? Sit down with your child and have them log in and show you their My path for reading and math. There you will see how many minutes they have worked this week, the lessons they have solved and the percentage they got on their lessons. It's a great way to keep up with their work in i-ready. Have them go into their my path and show you what the lessons look like and how they answer them!
Your students are working incredibly hard and it is paying off. Our students are participating in at least 45 minutes a week of i-ready reading and math practice which is individually tailored to their needs. They are working on their reading stamina, writing with detail, showing their comprehension, math computation and problem solving, understanding the contributions of those in our communities and how different objects affect each other when pushed and pulled. We look forward to sharing that all with you during our conferences in the coming weeks!
*If you have not signed up for a phone, email or in person conference with your child's teacher and would like to, please email them as soon as possible.
-Please read with or have your child read each day out loud
-Practice the math addition and subtraction facts from 1-20
-Help remind them to charge their ipads each evening
-Check their Take Home Folders for any papers or important information
On October 31st, our students will participate in a "Math or Treat" activity where they will solve different problems and complete tasks in order to earn their treat! All treats are non food items. If you are able to help us collect these treats, please see the sign up here. Thank you for your help to make this a great and fun day of learning!

Thursday, Nov. 7th is the proposed date for our 2nd Grade Field Trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. There IS a chance that this date could be rescheduled due to weather, but we are hoping to attend on that day! We will send out more information about this field trip as we get closer to that date, but please know that if you are planning on volunteering to chaperone this field trip, you will need to have your GCISD background check completed. The process takes several weeks to go through our system, so doing this now is highly recommended! District Background Check
If there is one thing we love, it's a good dress up day! Please join the teachers and other students in dressing up these days.
You should have received an email to click a form and opt in to emails from the room parent. If you did not receive that or do that yet, please reach out and email the room parent listed below for your Homeroom teacher. This is very important for them to be able to communicate with your directly about all things related to 2nd grade. Thank you!

Please pack one NUT FREE snack for your child every day in their backpacks. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide snacks for the class.
A green note when home with your children in their Take Home Folders this week. This is simply to let you know that we understand that the mornings can sometimes be a challenge for students. Sometimes they are anxious or sad about something at home. Sometimes their allergies are giving them trouble. Sometimes they simply are exhausted and need a little extra love and hugs from us. We get it and want to best support your child. If you find that your child is having one of these mornings, please just send us an email and all that you need to say is "Handle with care". We will get the message and be sure to give your child extra support and understanding that day.
Our planning time is from 2:15 - 3:00pm each day.
