We Think We Can!
We've heard students excitedly talking about Spring Break. The break is so close they can hardly wait! We've been discussing how fast the last nine weeks will fly by and emphasized the importance of making the best of what remains. Two points of focus for us will be grit and perseverance as the final nine weeks approaches. All growth is rooted in our ability to push through challenges while knowing when to step back to avoid the frustration that can stop our learning. This balance is tricky, but we will continue to help our students become more comfortable finding it.
We look forward to sharing our remaining birthdays and all the activities surrounding the last days of school. Of course, we will also celebrate students reaching personal and academic goals. If there is a theme to the 4th-nine weeks, it would be Celebration because we want to celebrate everything your kiddos have accomplished this year. There are plenty of memories to make between now and graduation, and we want to help them form even more amazing ones before we say goodbye. We continue to be grateful to be part of their journey through elementary school, and we thank all of you for being part of the team and helping them prepare for their next steps.

5th Grade Glow Day Supply Wish List
**Please note: this list will provide all 5th grade classrooms with the necessary supplies they need for Glow Day**
The 5th Grade Committee is working hard on preparing an amazing graduation for our 5th Grade Gators. A tradition during graduation is for the graduation slideshow to include a baby picture, a kindergarten picture, and a 5th grade picture of EVERY student. To make that happen, we need help from all our parents.
In the Google form below you can upload the necessary pictures of your Gator. Please make sure you are only filling out ONE form per student, so mom, if you fill it out, let dad know not to and vice versa.
We will also need you to name each picture with your students name and what picture it is (IE- "Sam Cross Baby Picture" "Sam Cross Kinder Picture" and "Sam Cross 5th Grade Picture.") There are 112 5th graders which means hundreds of pictures and having them labeled is the only way we can make sure every student is included.
Individual 5th Grade Grad Photos
The second Google form is for group pictures. Parents may send in up to 3 group pictures to include in the slide show as well. Pictures must have been taken ON campus or at a school sponsored event (field trip or camp) and they must be submitted by April 4. If they do not meet these criteria, they will not be included.
If you have any questions please reach out to Melissa Cross at 5thcommittee@glenhopepta.org
We have a goal this year for all 5th-grade students (and teachers) to complete 12 hours of community service outside of the school day by the end of the year (6 hours per semester). Students who achieve 6 hours by December 13, 2024, and an additional 6 hours by May 9, 2025, will receive a party to celebrate their achievements. When your child completes community service, please be sure they are logging their time in the Google Form linked below. We have hung a tracker poster (pictured here to the right) in the 5th-grade hallway to track the hours completed as the school year progresses. We cannot wait to see the tracker fill up!
Also, if you snap photos of your child during community service, please send them to us! We would love to see the work they are doing.
Carter/Robertson/Wahpekeche Community Service Log
SO FAR, 5TH GRADE STUDENTS ARE OVER 550 HOURS FOR THIS SEMESTER!
Also, if you snap photos of your child during their community service, please send them our way! We would love to see the work they are doing. We have included some photos we have received so far (to the right). It makes our hearts so happy to see students volunteering in their community!

Below is a video that tells the story of Jonah, who has a hard time sitting still and taught himself to crochet. He now teaches others in his school community to crochet and has a business! Many of our ASPIRE students have this type of drive and initiative. What a great message it is for them to harness their creative instincts and use them to make a change in the world.
We know we aren't perfect. Please click the link below and give us feedback on the first two weeks of school. We'd love to improve, and we'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!
