All student assignments are due by Tuesday, 5/13. Any missing assignment after that date will be given a grade of ZERO.
Students will be hard at work over the next few weeks researching important history and people of a chosen decade in the 20th century. We would love for you to be present for their showcase of work! The invite below indicates date and time(s). Please arrive early enough so that you can get signed in at the front vestibule!
**Please note: All 5th graders will be presenting the entire time; we have staggered the times for guests in order to accommodate such a large group in our classrooms**
Students need to bring in a tri-fold display board for their 20th Century Project!

By: Friday, May 9th (please don't bring them to school until May 9th; we will begin working on them on Monday, May 12th).
The following locations have them available:
Walmart
Hobby Lobby
Target
We will be working on a project next week in science where we will need duct tape and popsicle sticks. Unfortunately, our supply has run low from recent projects. If you are able to send some in, we'd appreciate it!
Please note our remaining STAAR testing date below. On testing days, Glenhope is closed to visitors so please keep that in mind. Additionally, we would appreciate you not scheduling any appointments on test days, as students will have to miss class time during the testing window to make up the STAAR testing they missed. If they miss a STAAR exam, they will have to spend an entire day of school when they return to make that test up.

All 6th, 7th, and 8th ASPIRE students/teachers will be there to greet us as well as answer questions/do activities with us. The purpose of this field trip is to help our 5th ASPIRE students feel more comfortable with their transition to middle school ASPIRE at CTMS.
We plan to leave Glenhope after first period around 8:55 a.m. We will be at CTMS until about 11:15 before returning back to Glenhope. 5th ASPIRE students will still have recess and lunch on this day and our afternoon schedule will remain our normal schedule. **If your child takes math at CTMS zero hour, they will still have math on this day. They will not get on the bus and return to Glenhope after class, but instead, wait until we arrive and ride back with us at 11:30. If your child takes math at CTMS second period, they will not have math on this day. **
Field trip permission slip, consent & release, and emergency form are due back by Wednesday, April 30th.

Hayes/Weinstein Community Service Photos (keep scrolling!)
We have a goal this year for all 5th-grade students (and teachers) to complete 12 hours of community service outside of the school day by the end of the year (6 hours per semester). Students who achieve 6 hours by December 13, 2024, and an additional 6 hours by May 9, 2025, will receive a party to celebrate their achievements. When your child completes community service, please be sure they are logging their time in the Google Form linked below. We have hung a tracker poster (pictured here to the left) in the 5th-grade hallway to track the hours completed as the school year progresses. We cannot wait to see the tracker fill up!
SO FAR, 5TH GRADE STUDENTS ARE OVER 650 HOURS FOR THIS SEMESTER!
Also, if you snap photos of your child during their community service, please send them our way! We would love to see the work they are doing. We have included some of the photos we have received so far (to the right). It makes our hearts so happy to see students volunteering in their community!
