First Grade

Castles, castles, castles everywhere! First graders are working in small groups to complete a castle challenge of their choice. Groups researched common elements of real castles then drew a design of the one they wanted to build. Using the specific challenge criteria and recycled materials, the students are creating castles incorporating as many 3D shapes as possible.

Second Grade

Thanks to all the recycled materials donations the second grade GT LEADers are creating race cars with movable parts! Each car must roll down a ramp, have at least 3 parts from a normal car and one from a race car. Students will test their design, make revisions if needed and then present next week.

Third Grade

We had such an amazing time on our field trip to the C.R. Museum and the Founders' Plaza! The students were given the challenge to work in a small group and create an aircraft that included a fuselage, wings and tail and that would fly a minimum of five feet. Second challenge was to try to go ten feet and final challenge to launch aircraft without using hands. They all did a great job! Perfect day for a picnic! We LOVED tracking where planes were coming in from and going. We were in awe of how many airplanes were in the air at the same time!

Fourth Grade

Fourth grade scholars have been busy building their own monument. They narrowed their personality traits down to their top 5-7 and found a symbol to represent each trait and incorporate it into a monument using limited supplies. Each student will now write an inscription for their monument to explain each symbol and its importance.

Fifth Grade

Fifth graders had their creativity hats on as they created wire art to represent their goal or "yet". Once completed, they constructed a paragraph to remind them of their goal, how they would achieve it and why it was important to them. Hopefully, each time they walk into our room they will remember to work towards completing their goal. Now on to presenting their mind maps, wire art and goal to the class through a digital product.
