Module 7 Making a Difference

We will be learning all about people who have made a difference in our world; from farmers to world leaders. We will be working on biographies of people who have made a difference. 

We will continue practicing writing Extended/Short Constructed Responses using the CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning)

• I can make inferences and use text evidence to support and develop understanding.

• I can discuss the selection, listen actively, and make relevant comments.

• I can recognize organizational patterns such as problem and solution.

• I can explain how text structure supports the author’s purpose.

• I can write a response that demonstrates understanding of the text.

• I can identify the use of first- or third-person point of view.

• I can recognize that the narrator’s point of view may differ from that of a reader.

• I can use text evidence and new vocabulary to write about the selection.

Next week we will continue working on a fraction project to end the unit.

We will also begin our next unit focusing on geometry and measurement.  Students will work on finding the area of a rectangle.

3.11 Earth and space. The student understands how natural resources are important and can be managed. The student is expected to:
