Our Student Council is putting on a fundraiser called Teacher Grams. Every day before school next week, students can purchase a Teacher Gram for $1.00 and write a note of gratitude to their favorite teachers. Students are encouraged to spread the love to as many teachers as they would like. Teacher Grams will be displayed outside the teacher's classrooms throughout the week.
When: Monday November 18th - Friday November 22nd
7:15 - 7:35 am in the front hallway
WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
Students have been hard at work tapping out words that have a short vowel /e/ in the middle. We have been practicing reading and writing these "cvc" words (words that have a consonant at the beginning and end and a short vowel in the middle.) In math, the students continue to work on addition and subtraction, as well as, counting backwards from 20 to 1 and counting from 1 – 100. Some students are having difficulty with subtraction. You may want to review some number sentences with your child to see if they need additional practice at home. Thank you! In social studies, we learned about Veterans Day, as well as other patriotic celebrations and holidays and the customs associated with them. In science, we identified different objects that are found in the day and night sky.
BOOK BAGS
All students need to keep their reading bags (and library books) in their backpacks when they are not reading them.
Please help your child become a confident and fluent reader by having him/her read everyday.
November Character Trait
How appropriate that the character trait for the month of November is gratitude. Gratitude is "Choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives." You can help your child reflect on what they appreciate and are thankful for with these gratitude prompts:
