We are so appreciative to our 5th grade families for all they have donated to make our Glow Day on April 4th a blast for students! If you haven't had a chance to donate anything from our wish list, we have linked it below. Also below you will find the final items we really need to make the day successful:
2-Pack Blacklight Bar (1 more needed) **we have been told that each class needs 3-4 bars for the entire room to be "glowing."
Connect 4 Game (at least 2 more needed) **we will even take a used game from home if you'd like to donate.
Party Glow Sticks (1 more needed) *we have received enough for about 100 of our 112 students
Bowling Set (at least 3 more needed)
Jenga Glowing Tower (at least 3 more needed)
To clarify the need for some of these items - we have requested multiple of some items (ex: bowling set) because two teachers at a time will be using them with students in their room. For example, Mrs. Robertson and Miss Hayes will be using the bowling set in science class. Multiple sets will ensure that around 5 students work in a group together, rather than 7 or 8. Smaller group sizes make learning more effective.
5th Grade Glow Day Supply Wish List
**Please note: this list will provide all 5th grade classrooms with the necessary supplies they need for Glow Day**
Please note our STAAR testing dates below. On testing days, Glenhope is closed to visitors so please keep that in mind. Additionally, we would appreciate you not scheduling any appointments on these days, as students will have to miss class time during the testing window to make up the STAAR testing they missed. If they miss a STAAR exam, they will have to spend an entire day of school when they return to make that test up.

Hayes/Weinstein Community Service Photos (keep scrolling!)
We have a goal this year for all 5th-grade students (and teachers) to complete 12 hours of community service outside of the school day by the end of the year (6 hours per semester). Students who achieve 6 hours by December 13, 2024, and an additional 6 hours by May 9, 2025, will receive a party to celebrate their achievements. When your child completes community service, please be sure they are logging their time in the Google Form linked below. We have hung a tracker poster (pictured here to the left) in the 5th-grade hallway to track the hours completed as the school year progresses. We cannot wait to see the tracker fill up!
SO FAR, 5TH GRADE STUDENTS ARE OVER 590 HOURS FOR THIS SEMESTER!
Also, if you snap photos of your child during their community service, please send them our way! We would love to see the work they are doing. We have included some of the photos we have received so far (to the right). It makes our hearts so happy to see students volunteering in their community!
The 5th Grade Committee is working hard on preparing an amazing graduation for our 5th Grade Gators. A tradition during graduation is for the graduation slideshow to include a baby picture, a kindergarten picture, and a 5th grade picture of EVERY student. To make that happen, we need help from all our parents.
In the Google form below you can upload the necessary pictures of your Gator. Please make sure you are only filling out ONE form per student, so mom, if you fill it out, let dad know not to and vice versa.
We will also need you to name each picture with your students name and what picture it is (IE- "Sam Cross Baby Picture" "Sam Cross Kinder Picture" and "Sam Cross 5th Grade Picture.") There are 112 5th graders which means hundreds of pictures and having them labeled is the only way we can make sure every student is included.
Individual 5th Grade Grad Photos
The second Google form is for group pictures. Parents may send in up to 3 group pictures to include in the slide show as well. Pictures must have been taken ON campus or at a school sponsored event (field trip or camp) and they must be submitted by April 4. If they do not meet these criteria, they will not be included.
If you have any questions please reach out to Melissa Cross at 5thcommittee@glenhopepta.org
