We have had a wonderful first full week of school! I have loved getting to know the kids and seeing friendships already forming!
This week in math we used our problem solving skills to solve real world problems. This really stretched the kids and they had to have a growth mindset when they didn't immeditately know the answer. I am excited to see how they grow in this element throughout the school year!
In ELAR we learned about picking "Just Right Books" that are not too easy and not too hard. They loved learning about how the classroom library is organized so they could pick books of interest to them.Ā
Next week we will complete our beginning of year assessments. They will be using a new assessment tool adopted by the district called i-Ready. It assesses students in both math and reading to establish a baseline and then tailors lessons for targeted and individualized instruction. Our students will be doing it independently on their iPads with headphones, which is new for our grade level. We are interested and excited to see the growth they will achieve.Ā
Please join us for our Parent Information Night next Thursday @ 6 PM in my classroom (room 107)
