Next Week: This week, we will begin our final unit over geometry! We will start by identifying a point, line, line segment, ray, angle, perpendicular and parallel lines. Then, we will illustrate an angle and show how an angle is part of a circle. Finally, we will end the week measuring and drawing angles.
Help from home: practice multiplication (two-digit x two-digit) and division (three-digit divided by one-digit) equations.
This Week : We explored Earth's natural resources, and completed a "caves or coral" student choice project. They researched their choice of cave systems or coral reefs and how humans can preserve them. We deepened our understanding of the resources in both the oceans and underground. We talked about the rock properties that can lead to caves like porosity, permeability, and impermeability.
Next Week : We will begin our unit on forces and interactions with energy, how it moves and transfers (kicking a soccer ball, beating a drum, etc.). We will discover the way energy moves in waves and how it can be stored and changed.
This Week : We took our social studies test over post-civil war Texas, the rise of the cattle industry, and the railroad. We learned about its influence on the economy, communities, and population of cities.
Next Week : We will learn about Texas at the start of the 20th century including, the Great Depression, FDR's presidency and his New Deal, Works Progress Administration, the Dust Bowl, and tensions escalating towards the second World War.
