Module 9 assessment: May 1st
*Students will begin game board novel projects on May 5th and work on them for the last couple of weeks of school. Students will need to choose a novel they have read or are reading and bring it to class in order to create a game based on the novel.
Friday, May 2nd will be my last day in the classroom before maternity leave and getting ready for the arrival of my baby boy who is due on May 11th. Mrs. Carter will be my long term substitute for the last few weeks of school. I have loved teaching this group of students this year and am so proud of their growth in 4th grade! Thank you for your support and for making this year so great! -Mrs. Kelly
Next Week: Monday, we will finish our dodecahedrons. Then, we will circle back around to financial literacy and work on budgets by building basketball teams and planning a family night out at a restaurant.
***Students are allowed to retake ALL assignments. If you see your child has made below a 70, they can ask to redo for a max grade of 70. ALL Spiral Reviews have unlimited attempts so they can retake them as many times as they need for a max grade of 100.***
This Week : We continued to learn about friction and expanded our knowledge to more practical uses (moving heavy objects, staying safe etc.). We began our unit on magnetism by the end of the week and discussed properties of metals and magnetism as a force.
Next Week : We will continue our magnetism investigation and end the week by learning about the forces of gravity. Gravitational forces change how we interact with our world on a daily basis.
This Week : We learned about the important symbols of Texas including the state flag, bluebonnet, mockingbird, the Lone Star, Alamo, and the 6 Flags we have flown over the course of Texas history.
Next Week : We will learn about the culture of Texas and celebrate our differences. This includes the languages, architecture, religions, foods, clothing, arts, and celebrations across Texas. Students will collaborate with a partner to draw themself/a representation of their culture as one half of a person, and their partner will complete the other half.
