WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
This week we stayed at the farm and learned some interesting facts about pigs. Did you know that pigs are really smart and are very good swimmers? We continued to work on identifying and producing rhyming words, counting syllables and listening for beginning sounds in words and finding words that begin with the same sound. In math, the students worked on composing numbers by showing different ways to make numbers up to 5, such as: 5 and 0, 4 and 1, 3 and 2, 4 and 1 and 0 and 5. We are working on counting backwards from 20 to 1 and counting from 1 – 100. In social studies, we learned about our leaders in our community and how they help us. We also learned about citizens and the rights we have as citizens.
READING CLASSES
Last week we started rotating classes for literacy so your child may be going to a different classroom for reading and writing instruction or staying with his/her homeroom teacher. The students have done a great job switching and have adjusted very well to a new teacher, new classmates and/or both!
A REMINDER ABOUT SNACK
The snack you send in for your child needs to be a HEALTHY, NUT-FREE and utensil - free snack! Please do not send in any fruit cups, juice boxes or other drinks, besides water. If you are sending a snack, please pack it separately from their lunchboxes. Thank you for your cooperation.
