WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
We stayed at the farm this week and stopped to visit with the Little Red Hen.
We read different versions of the story and looked for similarities
and differences between them. We had some good conversations
about the importance of cooperation and why the little red hen
should or should not have shared the bread. We continued to work on identifying and producing rhyming words, counting syllables and listening for beginning sounds in words and finding words that begin with the same sound. In math, we continued to work on number combinations to 10. This was hard for many students; please help them practice at home. In social studies, we learned about important citizens in U.S. history.
READING CLASSES
We have been rotating classes for literacy so your child may be going to a different classroom for reading and writing instruction or staying with his/her homeroom teacher. The students have done a great job switching and have adjusted very well to a new teacher, new classmates and/or both!
A REMINDER ABOUT SNACK
The snack you send in for your child needs to be a HEALTHY, NUT-FREE and utensil - free snack! Please do not send in any fruit cups, juice boxes or other drinks, besides water. If you are sending a snack, please pack it separately from their lunchboxes. Thank you for your cooperation.
LETTER ID and SOUNDS
Your child should be able to confidently identify (within 3 seconds, in random order):
20-26 upper case letters 20-26 lower case letters 20 -26 letter sounds
