This week, we worked on composing numbers in different ways. For example, the number 42 could be composed with 4 tens and 2 ones, 3 tens and 12 ones, 2 tens and 22 ones, or 1 ten and 32 ones.Ā
In reading, we took our Middle of Year iReady Diagnostic. We also wrote a summary of a Jan Brett book, Gingerbread Christmas. We learned about including only the most important events in our summary, which is how a summary differs from a retell.Ā
In science we began our unit on bodies of water. We investigated and compared the properties of puddles, ponds, streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans, including color, clarity, size, shape, and whether it is freshwater or saltwater.
In social studies, we continued our studies of traditions and the role they play in culture.Ā
