Thank you to everyone who made it to our Parent Information Night last night. If you were unable to be there, I will send an email containing the presentation for your review. If you have questions, please contact me!
This week we completed our new assessments in i-Ready. It is an adaptive tool that measures student performance in both math and reading to establish a baseline. Subsequent lessons areĀ individualized practice based on the diagnostic performance.Ā
Here is a link to a family video that further explains the program.
Next week in ELAR we will be learning about making connections to books we read. We will make text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world connections. In writing, we will be writing personal narratives, or stories from our lives. I love doing this unit at the beginning of the school year because I learn so much about my students! In math, we will begin an addition and subtraction unit.Ā
Language Arts: I can make connections to books I read. I can write narrative stories about my own life.Ā
Math: I can represent addition or subtraction word problems up to 10 by using appropriate strategies such as concrete objects, pictorial models, and number sentences.
Science: I can explain how science or an innovation help others.
Social Studies: I can explain that a community is a group of people who live and learn in the same place.Ā
We began a Citizenship unit in which the culminating project is a presentation to Kindergarteners about how to be good citizens at school!
The kids love Gator-AIDE time! During this time they complete STEM challenges, play critical thinking games like chess, and create original products in the Innovation Station.
