Our first unit is under way! Students looked at character inner/outer traits of characters found in Cinderella using multiple perspectives this week.

Second Grade
The results are in and Our four chickens have names! After careful sorting, counting, tallying and a "recount", these LEADers were about to record an announcement for all the students to hear the new chicken names on the Gator Morning News Thursday. Welcome Oreo, Marshmallow, Brownie and Latte to our Glenhope family!
Third Grade
In case you didn't hear...we are going on a field trip! What a great way to kick off a unit by announcing a field trip to the C.R. Smith Museum and Founders' Plaza! This week we introduced the Language of the Discipline icon as we discussed important vocabulary of pilots, air traffic controllers and scientists. We also discussed what can be learned by looking at the past, present and future. by discovering Changes over Time of things like the television and telephone.They realized just how old I am!
Fourth Grade
While I was out of town, Mrs. Harris came to Fourth Grade's First Ever Olympic Potato Games. The "Potato Olympians" competed in five events: gymnastics, bowling, ring toss, long jump and break dancing with Brody taking home the gold!
Fifth Grade
Fifth Grade Scholars started their first unit called "The Power of Yet".We had great discussions about how challenges affect our growth and what impacts our mindset. They each took a growth mindset and grit quiz to learn more about their own mindset. In the next few weeks, students will learn about the ways grit and determination can help them set and achieve goals.Fifth Grade

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences.
