WHAT a BUSY WEEK!
It's been another busy week! In math we are learning about non-standard measurement. We compared the length and height of different objects around the classroom. Next week we will measure weight and capacity. In literacy, we learned about digraphs - two letters that make one sound. We focused on ch, sh and th words, such as chin, shop and thumb. This is a difficult concept for students, but they are getting the hang of it! In social studies we are learning about time and chronology using words such as, today, tomorrow, yesterday, before and after. In science, we learned some interesting facts about giraffes. Did you know that a giraffe’s tongue is dark blue and is long as your arm? It is also “prehensile”, which means it can twist and grip things. This is very useful when they are trying to pick leaves out from thorns. Stay tuned for more fun facts about animals as we prepare for our trip to the zoo!
LET'S GLOW, GATORS!
THANK YOU for everything you have done to make our first glow day so special! The students had such a fun day and said that they wished everyday was Glow Day! We truly appreciate your help and generosity; we could not have done this without you. Thank you!!
FIELD TRIP INFO...
We are so excited to go to the Fort Worth Zoo next Friday, April 11th. We can’t wait to see all the animals we have been learning about. Students will need to wear their neon green Glenhope field trip shirt. This is the one our amazing PTA gave us in the fall and is pictured to the right. They will also need to bring a completely disposable sack lunch ~ NO lunchboxes or reusable water bottles. Students will need to wear comfortable shoes; tennis shoes would be best! More information about the trip will be sent home next week. Thank you to those who have volunteered to chaperone; you will also be receiving information about our trip next week.
BATHING SUITS and TOWELS NEEDED
As you are spring cleaning, please let me know if you have any bathing suits that no longer fit your child(ren). In June, Mrs. Williky's daughter Carly will be working at a week long camp for homeless children, ages 6 -14. They are in need of bathing suits and towels for the campers. The bathing suits (and towels) do not have to be new, so if you have any at home that your children have outgrown, please consider donating them to this wonderful cause. They need all different sizes, even adult sizes would work. If you have any, we will gladly come and pick them up or you can just send them to school with your child. We truly appreciate your help. Thank you!
April Character Trait: Courage
Courage involves making good choices in the face of fear or obstacles. It’s another term for bravery. Bravery doesn’t mean fearlessness; it means we do not let fear hold us back from exploring new opportunities, developing our skills, and doing what is right. For a five-year-old, courage might look like starting a new school, trying a new activity that stretches them, and learning new skills that take effort.

Please remember that all kindergartners must be accompanied by an adult. If your child will not be attending running club, please send an email to his/her teacher AND call the front office (817.251.5720) to let us know. Thank you!
