Next Week: Module 8 Week 3
Reading: Next in reading we will work on paired passages and comparing the texts. We will discuss similarities and differences in each passage using bubble maps and review games.
Writing: Next week in writing we will work on extended constructed responses. We will focus on answering a prompt, making a strong claim, finding supporting evidence, and giving reasoning for our evidence. We will review the ECR's we wrote last week and work on editing and revising.
Grammar: Commas in compound sentences and commas with direct speech and names.
Module 8 Assessment (goes over paired passages, no ECR) - 3/12/2025
Next Week: Our next unit will cover personal financial literacy. We will discuss fixed and variable expenses, calculate profit, compare various saving options, and the purposes of financial institutions.
Please try and work on multiplication facts at home. Having those memorized helps multiplying multi-digit numbers and division.
This Week : We explored earths natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable. Students will be able to distinguish between the two, and determine the pros and cons of using both types or resources for human livelihood. We took our unit 5-7 test.
Next Week : We will explore earths natural resources, and complete a "caves or coral" student choice project. They will research their choice of cave systems or coral reefs and how humans can preserve them. We will deepen our understanding of the resources in both the oceans and underground.
This Week : We completed our cattle drive project, where students wrote from the POV of a cowboy or a cow, mapped trails, packed their chuck wagon, and designed a brand for their ranch. We began our discussion of the railroad impact on Texas.
Next Week : We will learn about the deep influence of the railroad on Texas. This will include the economy, communities, immigration, and the commerce/population of major cities.
