A pink letter was sent home last week with information regarding our Valentine's Day classroom exchange and student created boxes. Use the link below if you need access to this information. Thank you in advance for your help!
We have a Valentines Party Activity called "Guess That Baby" where students will get to see baby pictures of their classmates and they try to guess who it is. We need your help by sending in a cute digital baby picture. Pictures where your child is between the ages of 6 months-2 years work great. We will display the baby pictures in a slideshow during our Valentines Party on February 13th. Please email the picture to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, February 7th. Thank you in advance for your help!
Next Week: Module 7 Week 1
Reading: Next week in reading we we will read traditional literature and work on central idea, figurative language, and literary elements.
Writing: Next week in writing we will work on extended constructed responses. We will focus on answering a prompt, making a strong claim, finding supporting evidence, and giving reasoning for our evidence. Students will complete an ECR and then edit and revise it using the STAAR writing grading rubric.
Grammar: Editing & Revising
Next Week: We will continue our unit over data analysis. This week we will dive into stem-and-leaf plots and using them to solve problems.
Please try and work on multiplication facts at home. Having those memorized helps multiplying multi-digit numbers and division.
This Week : We finished moon phases and began patterns of change (water cycle and the sun). We explored why the water cycle occurs and how it relates to other recurring themes and patterns we can observe in science.
Next Week : We will continue to explore the water cycle and Earth's patterns as a whole. Students will learn the terms humidity, water vapor, evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and rehearse our water cycle song!
This Week : We discovered the US Declaration and Constitution and how they are similar to the Texas documents. We discussed government roles and the bill of rights, as well as the purpose/structure of national government.
Next Week : We will review for our social studies Unit 5 test on Thursday, covering the events following the Texas Revolution, Texas as a state, and successes/failures of the Republic. We will complete an assignment about ratifying amendments and explore the Bill of Rights.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in supplies! These are a few items we could still use more of in the classrooms to make it through the rest of the year. Thank you!
