WHAT a FUN SURPRISE
What do we do when we can't find a local farm to visit? We bring the farm to visit us, of course! On Wednesday, we surprised the children with a visit from Cathy's Critters petting farm. The kids got to brush, pet and feed bunnies, pigs, ducks, goats, guinea pigs, chickens and even a llama! It was a wonderful experience for all and we couldn't think of a better way to wrap up our unit on farm animals. Many thanks to our AMAZING and very generous PTA for funding this program and also providing us with some "glowing" new t-shirts! Please don't lose these shirts; we will need them for our spring field trip!
WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
We continued to work on listening for beginning and ending sounds in words and finding words that begin and/or end with the same sound. Listening for the same ending sounds has been a little tricky for some students. We are also learning about synonyms and antonyms. In math, the students worked on addition and subtraction, as well as, counting backwards from 20 to 1 and counting from 1 – 100. In social studies we learned about symbols that represent the United States.
BOOK BAGS
We were so happy that most of the students remembered to return their take home reading bags today, however, there were a few students who did not read their books. Please ensure that your child is reading to build their confidence and fluency.
LETTER ID and SOUNDS
Your child should be able to confidently identify (within 3 seconds, in random order):
20-26 upper case letters 20-26 lower case letters 20 -26 letter sounds
