This week we continued working with coins and comparing values. We practiced making values in different ways, using the most coins, the fewest coins or just building a value in 2 or 3 ways. We will We will focus on counting by the value of coins but also will practice counting mixed coins for those who are ready. Some students have a hard time recognizing the coins and remembering their values, as physical currency is used less and less. If you have a collection of coins at home to practice counting, that would be terrific practice for them!
In ELAR we are beginning EOY assessments. Fluency tasks measure the words per minute and comprehension of what has been read. Thank you to everyone who makes reading with your child a priority every day. It not only improves their reading skills but writing as well!
During these last few weeks of school there are many fun events. We will be reviewing different skills from the year in order to finish strong and prepare for 2nd grade.
Enjoying the last week of school
