Dear 3rd Grade Parents,
3rd grade is responsible for putting together 2 themed baskets to be auctioned off at the upcoming PTA Fall Festival. The 3rd grade basket themes are football watching party and Spa-tacular. Brittany Brown, our Grade Level Coordinator, is collecting items for these baskets.
Here is a link to the Item Wishlist for our 2 grade level baskets:
Please email 3rdcoordinator@glenhopepta.org if you have any questions.
From our principal, Dr. Griffin:
Our community has always supported our school in so many ways, for which we are very grateful. One of the traditions that has long been in place is our annual Greenback giving campaign, which we use to supplement the budget provided by the district.
Many years ago, Glenhope parents stated their preference for an opportunity to donate rather than having students participate in fundraisers. That has continued to be our practice, and we have been able to supplement classroom and building requests through our community’s generosity. There is now an option for you to donate by using a credit card through the district’s RevTrack system.
Gifts made to Glenhope should be tax deductible (per IRS tax code section 170), but you will want to confirm with your tax advisor. We will furnish a form acknowledging your contribution. Some corporations match donations, so I would encourage you to investigate that possibility as well. We received an estimated additional $4,000 - 5,000 last year from matching corporate donations.
We are excited to extend our learning through this fun pumpkin project. Students and families will decorate a small (pie size) pumpkin, or a fake pumpkin, using paint, fabric, wigs, or any craft supplies available, to look like a character from their favorite book. Please DO NOT carve or poke holes in the pumpkins because this causes them to start the decomposing process, encourages mold growth, and BUGS!! If pumpkins are carved when they arrive at school they will be returned the same day. Pumpkins are due with book report on OCTOBER 15th. They will be on display in the Learning Commons through October, and will be displayed during the Fall Festival this year! I am so excited for all the families to participate! Cannot wait to see all the magnificent creations!
Students will explain the influence of setting on plot.
Students will explain the use of text structure to achieve the author’s purpose.
