Module 9 Week 1
Reading: Next week in reading we will work on author's claim, text and graphic features, inferences, theme, and idioms.
Writing:
Next Week: This week, we will begin our STAAR Rockin' Review.
Help from home: practice multiplication (two-digit x two-digit) and division (three-digit divided by one-digit) equations.
This Week : We conducted an experiment about the properties of conductors and insulators. We used a simulator to explore circuits, where they get their energy, and how to power them.
Next Week : We will read about the properties medical scientists use to engineer artificial skin for people with amputations or severe burns. This is a process that uses electricity and circuits to help the person be able to sense touch and feel warmth, even after they have lost essential nerve endings.
This Week : We learned about advancements in science and technology after WW2, including changes to the oil and natural gas industry, space travel, and population growth.
Next Week : We will learn about citizens rights and responsibilities including voting, serving on a jury, and civil rights. We will talk about how to stay informed on important issues, and conflict resolution within the government.
I am sending home homework next week! This is a one page assignment for students to interview a person about the responsibilities of citizenship. They will ask questions about voting, running for office, staying informed on current issues, and serving on a jury. This assignment will be sent home MONDAY and is due THURSDAY.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in supplies! These are a few items we could still use more of in the classrooms to make it through the rest of the year. Thank you!

Mints for STAAR testing
Please note our STAAR testing dates below. On testing days, Glenhope is closed to visitors so please keep that in mind. Additionally, we would appreciate you not scheduling any appointments on these days, as students will have to miss class time during the testing window to make up the STAAR testing they missed. If they miss a STAAR exam, they will have to spend an entire day of school when they return to make that test up.
