Dear GT LEAD Families,
Well, I just had the best week ever! I had the privledge to meet with all Glenhope GT LEADers this week. This week we focused on getting to know each other, hearing about our summer and refreshing our goals as GT scholars. We also went over expectations and what we might expect this week. I hope the students had half as much fun as I did! We will continue our beginning of the year activity next week and then the week of September 9th we will dive into our first unit. I cannot wait!

Firsties loved getting to know each other in a "Find Someone Who" activity that incorporated our Depth & Complexity Icons.

Second Graders -
Chickens, chickens,chickens... first scholars narrowed down the list of chicken names that first grade students submitted to the top five for each chicken. They showed their creativity by creating ballot boxes for students to vote. Next Tuesday, each student will be able to vote on their favorite names for each chicken. The second grade GTLEADers will then tally the votes and announce the winning names on our Gator News.
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade GT LEADers participated in the first ever Potato Olympics. Students were busy creating their athlete, giving him/her strengths & weakness, a motto and characteristics. They also each designed a medal that they will will vote on to award to our first ever Potato Olympic Gold medalist. The actual competition will start at our next class meeting....LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Fourth Grade: Mondays 9:25- 10:30 & 12:15-1:40

Package of Sharpies (fine or extra fine), Orange Folder with pockets
2nd grade
Package of Crayola Markers (fat or thin), Green Folder with pockets
3rd grade
Package of low-temp small glue sticks, Blue Folder with pockets
4th grade
Box of plastic baggies (snack, sandwich or quart), Yellow Folder with pockets
5th grade
Roll of paper towels, Red Folder with pockets
When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences.
