Want to learn more about the Vietnam War? Vietnam, a Televised History is an 11 part series done by PBS in 1983 documenting the Vietnam War. Unlike the wars of the 21st century, journalists had unprecedented coverage of the conflict in Vietnam and minute news of the war came into Americans living rooms each night. This series documents some of this "televised history" and sheds light into the nature of the Vietnam conflict. Episode 4, America Takes Charge documents the story of escalating American military involvement in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965-1967. In 1965, a few hundred American "advisers" were stationed in Vietnam, but by 1967 500,000 troops occupied the nation with no end to the conflict in sight.
