Course Overview:

The purpose of this course/page is to help prepare students for the AP English Language and Composition exam. There is no time period for this course, rather study materials are presented for students to access so they can practice and prepare for the exam. This course is divided into three units. Exam Composition:

The AP English Language Exam is a 3 hour exam that consists of a multiple choice section and an essay section. The multiple choice section of the exam is made up of 55 questions covering 3-5 reading selections and must be finished in 1 hour. The essay section of the exam consists of three essays that students must finish in two hours. The three types of essays students must write are the synthesis essay, where students must synthesis several sources to form a coherent essay; the rhetorical analysis essay, where students are given a selection of writing and must analyze how the author made his or her point; the general argument essay, where students are given a general topic and asked to write a coherent essay addressing the prompt.
