Hi All,

A cool way to get credit for a special project is through watching documentaries that you can access online. The following is a PBS video that aligns with material covered in Unit 3:

The Mormons, Frontline/American Experience

Have you ever wanted to learn the story of the LDS Church? I included this fascinating Frontline/American Experience documentary because The Church of Latter Day Saints is a uniquely American religion that played a large role in the settlement of the American west. Joseph Smith founded the church in New York, and he and his followers moved from New York to Missouri, then Illinois, persecution following them wherever they went. Eventually Smith was killed and Brigham Young, the able new leader of the LDS church brought the Mormons to the Great Salt Lake Valley, where they created a religious theocracy in the western deserts of the US. This two hour documentary describes this story.   Special Project Credit: To get credit for watching this film, download the movie worksheet attached here and submit filled in worksheet into the Unit 3 Special Project Assignment. You can watch the film by clicking the following link: http://www.pbs.org/mormons/view/ This is a fascinating film about an American religion that to this day plays a profound role in the story of our nation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did .
