European Feudalism

Hi All,

I will be hosting a class at 1:00 pm MT on Tue, 2-28 on the topic of European Feudalism. When Roman government collapsed in Europe in the late 5th century, European culture and government changed to better reflect tastes of the new peoples moving into Europe at this time. The Germanic tribes who occupied Europe preferred informal government based on family ties over the bureaucratic, centralized system the Romans used. Later, when Europe faced invasions from groups such as the Vikings and Magyars, the system became more formal and involved a military aspect as well. This system of government, called feudalism by historians, incorporated people into social groups and governed Europe for nearly 1,000 years using a system radically different than our own.
