AP English: The source-based Essay

I will be hosting a live class at 10 am MT on Tue, 10-23 in order to go over the source-based essay. One of the primary essay assignments in AP English Composition is the synthesis, or source-based essay. This is an essay that develops a central thesis through the description and analysis of several sources, in the case of Unit 2, the various essays on immigration. In the class, we will discuss what AP graders look for in an synthesis essay and I will help you with your plan of attack on the Response Journal 2.3 assignment. In addition to this, attendance in this live class earns you credit for the Unit 2 Custom Project Assignment. To get into this class, click the following link: Trehal's Live Office

If you were unable to attend the live version of this class, you may still get credit by watching the recording and answering the following question: Why did Emma and I give the second student essay a score of 6? You can watch the recording by clicking the following link: AP English, The Source-based Essay recording.
