The Ascent of Money is a series of documentaries produced by the BBC and PBS based on the Harvard Economist Niall Fergusson's book The Ascent of Money, a Financial History of the World. The purpose of this series is to explain basic ideas in economics by describing the historical roots of the modern economy. Episode 4 of this series, titled, "Planet Finance" is about the phenomenon of globalization, or the free flow of capital throughout the globe in the 21st century. Dr. Ferguson explains how capital managed to flow so freely in the 21st century and discusses the pros and cons of the second age of globalization.
