Hi All,

I have a special treat for you: the first two hours of Ken Burns 2007 series on WWII, The War. If you haven't seen any other Ken Burns documentaries on this site or in general, watch this and you'll see why a Ken Burns film is the gold standard for historical documentaries.

The War Episode 1: A Necessary War

Want to see an excellent documentary on the first year of American involvement in WWII? A Necessary War is the first episode in the 2007 Ken Burns series on WWII, The War. The film begins with an overview of WWII and its effect on America, then documents the first year of the war from the point of view of four families from towns in four different regions of the United States. Like Mr. Burns other series I've used, The Civil Warthis film is fascinating and you'll find yourself hooked if you start watching it. This episode is two parts (that I have clearly marked on the movie worksheet), so you will have to click on both links to watch the two parts. I also include a third link to a site that has all episodes of this wonderful series. Special Project Credit: Download the movie worksheet attached here and fill out as you watch the film, then submit the filled out worksheet to the Unit 4 Special Project Assignment to receive points.
