Eastern Bloc, Europe, 1989: With the advent of Mikhail Gorbachev, "Glasnost" opened up the Soviet Union, and by the late 1980's "Perestroika" represented the process of reforming the Soviet system before it collapsed. As the nations of Eastern Europe watched events unfold, many realized that this might be the best time to break away from the Eastern Bloc and chart an independent course to nationhood on the democratic model. This movie documents events as the peoples' revolution swept through nation after nation in Eastern Europe until it reached the heart of East Berlin.
