The Industrial Revolution, 1750-1900

I will be hosting a class at 1:00 pm MT on Tue, 3-6 on the topic of the Industrial Revolution. England, 1750-1815: By 1750, the English Navy was the largest Navy in the world and England had slowly but surely broken the monopoly of the Dutch East Indies Company over Asian trade. The Commercial Revolution beginning a century earlier had created a financial system in England that allowed for capital investors to increasingly partner with entrepreneurs, and the Agricultural Revolution assured an increasing food supply, and increasing source of labor, and an increasing population hungry for manufactured goods. Add to this mix the fact the devastating Napoleonic Wars never touched English soil, which was rich with iron and coal, and an unlimited supply of "King Cotton" from its colonies, and you have the perfect recipe for the British Industrial Revolution. This class will provide an overview of the era and focus on some of the key events of a revolution that would alter every corner of the planet.
