Backroads America, 1929-1935: Did you know that over 4 million people "hit the road" during the Great Depression?Riding the Rails is another excellent episode of PBS's American Experience that documents this phenomena by telling the story of several young people who "rode the rails" during the Depression. If you watch this, you'll get an interesting perspective of one aspect of the Depression and a picture of the devastated economic landscape these people traveled through.
