Unit 4 Project: Upton Sinclair Project Changed Requirements

Hi All,

IMPORTANT: If you haven't already seen Assignment 17: Upton Sinclair Project, I have decided to change the requirements of this assignment. In the first assignment, it asks you to look up and describe some programs that Upton Sinclair was involved in and answer questions about them, but I have decided to change this into an essay about Roosevelt's New Deal programs in fighting the Great Depression. Here are the new requirements:

When Franklin Roosevelt campaigned to become president in 1932, the platform he ran on was that he would aggressively fight the Depression and offer American's a "New Deal" from their government. Once he was elected, his first hundred days in office was a flurry of activity to make good on his promise, and Roosevelt's program of government agencies to combat the Depression was officially called the "New Deal". Picking three of Roosevelt's New Deal Programs, write a five paragraph essay explaining the effectiveness of the New Deal.

This essay is an easy one to organize: you will be deciding when you write this whether you believe the New Deal was effective or not in combating the Depression and/or how effective it was. Your measure of the effectiveness of the New Deal will be your thesis and you will discuss throughout your essay. The essay itself should be organized around three specific New Deal Programs, and each body para should describe the programs in detail (remember I like dates and names) and then you should discuss how effective this specific program was in combating the Depression. Here is a list of sites that may help you in this:

I will also do a live class on this to help.

Sincerely,

Trehal
