Themes in Domestic or Foreign Policy during the 20th Century
Over the course of this semester you have studied the domestic and foreign policies of the US Federal Government during the 20th century. For your final exam, you are required to write an essay of 750 words or more describing major themes in EITHER domestic or foreign policy during the 20th century. To write this essay, choose either domestic or foreign policy to focus on, and then either break up the 20th century into several eras and/or discuss several themes in domestic or foreign policies.
Here are some possible topics:
Isolation vs intervention (foreign policy)
laissez-faire economics vs government regulation (domestic)
The Cold War and the US's role as a global leader (foreign)
Big government vs small government (domestic, but also foreign policy)
These are suggestions and you are free to organize this essay in the way that best makes sense to you, but you must cover the entire 20th century and your essay must be at least 750 words. If you are planning to do a five para essay, I suggest covering one of the themes above and using the following 3 eras for your body paras: 1st era-1900-1936; 2nd era-1937-1975; 3rd era-1976-present.
