Hi All,

A cool way to get credit for a special project is through watching documentaries that you can access online. The following is a video that aligns with material covered in Unit 4:

Cold War Episode 6: Reds

Want to learn more about America's "Red Scare" and McCarthyism? During the late 1940's and early 1950's, as the Cold War began to heat up and the pressure began to get to the American and Russian societies and leaders, a demagogue Senator named Joseph McCarthy manipulated fear of communists for his own gain, and hundreds of suspected American communist sympathizers were arrested, fired, or blacklisted. For nearly ten years, many leaders manipulated fear of communism, a dark chapter in the history of American politics often called the "McCarthy Era". In Russia, during this same period, Stalin imprisoned or killed millions for having suspected pro-western sympathies. This interesting time in the Cold War is documented in this 45 min. episode of the CNN series Cold War and is available here for your viewing pleasure. Special Project Credit: Download the movie worksheet attached here and fill out as you watch the film, then submit the filled out worksheet to the Unit 4 Special Project Assignment to receive points.
